The Beginnings...

DIY Tactical, LLC is owned and operated by Mike Rinaldi.

Mike is a 10 year veteran of the US Army where he served as an Infantryman from the rank of Private to Staff Sergeant, duting his service he spent time in various positions.

While in a Scout platoon with the 101st he acquired his first sewing machine and began to modify and build equipment to allow him to complete assigned missions in the most efficient and comfortable way possible. The thought of “there has got to be a better way” was never far off.

Early on Mike identified the problem of finding a good source of materials to get the job done. There simply wasn’t one. So it was cutting up old duffle bags, looking in trash bins near the supply room and trips to DRMO to get what was needed.

Mike Left the Army in 2002 and after a short time as a Security Engineer and Consultant, he took a job in Iraq and once again found himself having to rely on tactical gear for his day to day job. Of course the ideas once again began to flow.

Just prior to heading overseas, the website (www.diytactical.com) was born and the focus was on providing an information  resource for the Do it Yourself gear makers,  place to share thoughts, discuss modifications, as well as review equipment that is currently on the market.

The problem that Mike originally identified years ago still existed. There was no easy, economical one stop shop to purchase the supplies need for the Do it Yourselfer.

Using the mantra “there’s got to be a better way” process of thinking, Mike decided to do it himself and launched the DIY Tactical Store in April of 2006.

Along with his day to day to day job in Iraq, his free time was spent designing and maintaining the websites, sourcing materials and responding to customers. Back in the States, along with teaching elementary school fulltime and taking care of the household, his wife received inventory and filled orders.

In September of 2006 Mike returned home from overseas to run the business fulltime. As DIY Tactical continued to grow operating the business from home became difficult, In January of 2007 the company relocated to the commercial space they are in now . This new space allows DIY Tactical to increase its inventory as well as offer better service for our customers
